Carey Hart knew some fans would have a problem with his Monday, December 10, Instagram photo, in which the retired motocross racer is seen riding a dirt bike with his 23-month-old son, Jameson.
“Jamo has his race face on,” Hart, 43, captioned the snap. “Don’t worry parent police, I’m a profession. #BeADadNotAFad.”
Despite the disclaimer, Hart was inundated with criticism. “Your face and body protected but his isn’t,” wrote one person, while several others pointed out that the little boy was not wearing wearing goggles. “Nice eye protection for the kid,” snipped a troll, to which Hart replied: “Move along.”
But Hart had plenty of supporters who praised him for being a present and involved father. Sample comment: “Yay for family time and sharing a love of a sport and making memories.”
Hart’s wife, Pink, and the couple’s daughter, Willow, 7, also got in on the action at Castillo Ranch in Alamos, California. On Tuesday, December 11, the singer, 39, uploaded a series of Instagrams from their fun-filled family outing and wrote, “Rippin’ with my girlie.” While cruising around with Willow — she has a kid-size motobike! — Pink sported a jacket with the words “Mama Hart.”
Pink defended Hart back in 2013, when he took a then-2-year-old Willow on a motobike ride. “If any of u have more experience on a bike than my husband, then I will listen to your opinions on how he should take my daughter for a ride,” she wrote on Twitter at the time. “I can’t promise I will care, but I will listen none the less.”
Just last month, Hart was applauded by parents when he took his kids out for bar food because he was too tired to cook. As one mom wrote: “Love the normalcy of this not so normal family. The BEST.”
Three-time Grammy winner Pink is also notorious for keeping it real. When a mother asked her for advice in 2017, she replied, “You’re doing the best you can, which is amazing, and all children really need is love.”
