Chris Evans is opening up about how his mindset has shifted since becoming a father.
“I have a daughter now and … you need a really good reason to want to go to work now,” Evans, 45, said at a recent Fan Expo, per a clip shared via social media. “So, you know, priorities have shifted a bit.”
Evans and wife Alba Baptista welcomed their first child, a daughter, in 2025. A source revealed to People at the time that their daughter’s name is Alma Grace Baptista Evans.
“They’re enjoying their privacy and these special first few days as a family with their baby,” the insider told the outlet.
The couple have been linked to 2021, but did not make their relationship Instagram official until January 2023. A source exclusively told Us that same month that Evans and Baptista, 29, had “gotten serious.”
“This is the most committed anyone can remember him being in a very long time, if not ever. They spend most of their time at his place in Massachusetts and love the quiet life there, surrounded by nature and away from the spotlight,” the insider noted. “Chris was very open that he wanted to take his time before settling down.”
Evans and Baptista secretly wed in Cape Cod in September 2023. He confirmed their marriage the following month and shared that the couple held two weddings.
“I got married. It was really, really great. We kinda had two ceremonies. We had one on the East Coast. We did one in Portugal,” he said at a New York Comic Con panel in October 2023, gushing that both ceremonies were “wonderful and beautiful.”
While the Captain America star and Baptista never publicly shared their engagement, he later reflected on popping the question to his love and shared details about the intimate moment.
“I proposed to my wife in Portuguese,” he told The Knot in June 2025. “She’s Portuguese, so I learned how to say, ‘Will you marry me?’ in Portuguese. I had practiced it all week. I had practiced it so much that while I’d be making breakfast and you almost just start saying it out loud. Like, ‘Oh, God, that’s not just a song that’s stuck in my head! It’s gonna let the cat out of the bag.’ I got really nervous when it came time to do it. I actually think I screwed it up, but I still know it.”
