Country singer Chris Stapleton couldn’t attend the 2018 Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday, April 15, for a very good reason — his wife, Morgane, gave birth to twin boys!
The “Broken Halos” singer, who also turned 40 on Sunday, won Album of the Year for From a Room: Volume 1, and after his name was announced, the show’s host, Reba McEntire, took the stage to announce the happy news.
“Chris couldn’t be here cause Morgane’s expecting twins,” McEntire said. “We just found out that those little rascals came a little bit early. Hot off the press! Twin boys.”

The couple, who already have two children, a girl, 8, and boy, 6, whose names they have chosen to keep private, announced in October 2017 that they were expecting twins.
Morgane shared the news in an Instagram post marking the couple’s 10th wedding anniversary.
“14 years, 2 babies, & 2 more on the way,” she captioned a black-and-white photo with her husband. Happy 10 year anniversary babe! You make my whole world go round.”
The pair met in 2003 when Stapleton was working at a Nashville publishing house and Morgane, a singer and songwriter, was working at a neighboring publishing house. She would hang out with a friend who worked in Stapleton’s office in the hopes of seeing him. “She was a stalker,” he joked in an interview with Paste in 2015.
Stapleton was nominated for eight awards in five categories at the ACMs, and was named Male Vocalist of the Year in addition to his Album of the Year honor.
