Becki Newton loves working alongside other strong, working mothers! In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, the Divorce star reveals that she has always looked at Sarah Jessica Parker as a celebrity mother she admires.
“I had such respect for her before I worked with her, but just the way she’s so dedicated to her work and her family. I know we mentioned before balance,” Newton, 39, tells Us. “I just see her as someone who carries herself with so much grace and to me she’s just a great example of a wonderful mom and a powerhouse working woman.”
“I think she’s just an example by who she is and how she carries herself, so there’s really no advice,” Newton, who shares a 7-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter with husband Chris Diamantopoulos, continues. “For me, it’s just about watching someone in action and I’ve admired her for so long and admire her even more now that I see her on the set both as an actress and as a producer.”
The Ugly Betty alum recently joined HBO’s Divorce, playing Jackie, a strong single mother. While she admits that she really admires Jackie’s strength and confidence, in her life, she’s part of a team.
“I’m really, really lucky to have a husband who’s really hands on,” she tells Us, adding that when the four of them get to spend a day together, they “do as little as possible” and just enjoy relaxing as a family.
“Our kids love being home and cozy and in their pajamas and to be honest, so do my husband and I, so it works out perfectly,” she says. “We love to just hang out and be comfy and draw and sew things … my kids are at a really great age where they just love to be cozy and they still love to hang out with us!”
