Like father, like … daughter’s boyfriend? Model Ava Phillippe posted a picture with new beau Owen Mahoney and fans can’t stop comparing him to her famous dad, Ryan Phillippe.
Ava, 19 — who’s the eldest child of Cruel Intentions costars Ryan and Reese Witherspoon — shared a pair of snapshots on Instagram on Sunday, June 9, in which she poses alongside her man while at Cinespia at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles. According to a pal’s Instagram Stories, they saw the 1996 comedy The Birdcage, starring Nathan Lane and the late Robin Williams.
Pokémon Detective Pikachu actress Kathryn Newton, who plays Witherspoon’s daughter on Big Little Lies, commented on the post: “Cuteeeeeee.” Sprinkles Cupcakes founder Candace Nelson echoed the sentiment.
While many others also felt the pair looked adorable, plenty took to the comments section of Ava’s post to express how much they thought her guy’s facial features mimicked the 44-year-old actor’s.
“He looks exactly like her dad,” wrote one user, while another said: “He looks like a younger version of your dad. Wow.”
A third Instagram user then tagged the former Hollywood power couple, noting: “I thought this was a throwback pic of @reesewitherspoon & @ryanphillippe.” (Ava is often compared to her 43-year-old look-alike mother.)
One commenter, however, did not see the resemblance, saying, “He does not look like your dad.” The blonde’s response: “big thx.”
Ava and Mahoney, who both recently finished their freshman year at University of California, Berkeley, were spotted packing on the PDA at the beach on Monday, June 3.
Days prior, Ava and the Legally Blonde actress attended the season 2 premiere of Witherspoon’s Big Little Lies in New York City. The Oscar winner wore a strapless silk gown, while the college student opted for a little black dress.
Witherspoon and her ex-husband welcomed Ava in 1999. The former couple, who finalized their divorce in 2007 after eight years of marriage, are also parents of 15-year-old son Deacon.
The Walk the Line star is also the mother of son Tennessee, 6, from her second marriage.
Ryan, for his part, welcomed a daughter named Kai in 2011 with Pitch Perfect‘s Alexis Knapp.
