Jessica Simpson’s latest Instagram video made quite the splash. In the clip, the singer’s husband, Eric Johnson, is seen throwing their injured son, Ace, 4, high up in the air while they play in a swimming pool.
Ace, who fractured his arm on June 19, does a full somersault before plummeting into the water feet first.
“A broken bone doesn’t hold this kiddo down,” wrote Simpson, 37. “Waterproofcast.”
The parenting police came out in full force. “I had no idea it’s possible to swim with a broken arm! Probably not the best choice,” one person commented. Added another: “Love you, Jess, but why throw a kid with a cast on? Even in water.” A third called the stunt “the most ridiculous thing to be doing as a parent.”
Of course, Simpson’s loyal fans were quick to come to her defense. As one woman pointed out, “You realize he is being flipped into water, right? They are not flipping him on concrete.”
But there is one thing all of the fashion mogul’s followers seemed to agree on: waterproof casts are really, really cool. “*flashback to 20 years ago having to have a shower with a garbage bag on over my cast,*” wrote one woman. “2018. What a time to be alive.”
Simpson and the former NFL player, 38, are also parents of daughter, Maxwell, 6.
“Being a mother is the best opportunity and challenge I’ve ever been blessed with in life,” Simpson gushed to Us Weekly in May. “Right now my kids are in this amazing stage where I’m really listening to them without judgement and they’re teaching me so much.”
