How precious! Katie Holmes and her daughter, Suri Cruise, watched the 90th Academy Awards from the comfort of their own home.
The Dawson’s Creek alum, 39, shared an adorable black-and-white photo on Instagram on Sunday, March 4, of Suri, 11, wearing a cute patterned dress and sneakers with a bow in her hair. The preteen sits next to a book and a fluffy black dog while clapping near the TV with her hands in the air.
“Congratulations to all of the nominees and winners!!!!!!!” Holmes captioned the snap, adding a pink heart emoji.
She later shared another pic that showed her giving her daughter a kiss as they sat on a sofa together.
The actress shares Suri with her ex-husband, Tom Cruise, to whom she was married from 2006 to 2012. Since the former couple’s divorce, Holmes has begun making the shift from acting to working behind the camera for the sake of her little girl.
“This business is so unstable, and you never really know where you’re going to be,” she explained in an interview with Town & Country in March 2017. “The thing about directing is I can say I have this window and that’s when we’re getting it done. My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now. It’s very important that I’m present and she has a stable, innocent childhood. I feel so blessed to do what I do, but there’s nothing in the world better than watching your child succeed.”
Holmes also admitted that she’s somewhat nervous about Suri inching toward her teenage years. “Every day, kids get a little further away from you,” she told the magazine at the time. “That’s a positive thing … but it’s heartbreaking. You want them to stay with you forever, but they’re these amazing beings, and you have to do everything you can to give them what they need — and then they’re going to go. And that’s going to be very, very sad for me.”
The Ocean’s 8 star has been quietly dating Jamie Foxx since 2013. “Their relationship works because of the love, compassion, trust and support they have for each other,” a source close to Holmes recently told Us Weekly exclusively. “They confide in and rely on each other pretty heavily. They’re definitely very serious.”
