Now that’s a solid inner circle! Kelly Rowland revealed on HuffPost Live this week that she has a star-studded group of moms that she leans on for advice about parenting, and obviously her Destiny’s Child sisters, Beyoncé and Michelle Williams, are among her celebrity consultants.
“I’m so happy that I still have the ladies still to this day,” 35-year-old Rowland, who is the mom of baby Titan, said of her former girl group. “They’re my sisters. Yeah.”
While all three women grew up in the spotlight, they’ve dealt with different issues throughout their careers. Luckily, those experiences have allowed them to empathize with and help each other.
“We just go through different things,” Rowland told the site. “I can call Michelle for prayer. I call B for motherly advice. I call Solange for school advice … I call all of my friends who are mothers and just growing as women. I feel like we have so many different things in common.”
The Empire guest star later noted: “I’m so blessed, because it [doesn’t] matter which mother I run into. All of my girlfriends who do live in front of the spotlight were super supportive.” This includes fellow singer Jennifer Hudson, who starred alongside Beyoncé in 2006’s Dreamgirls.
“I’ll never forget J-Hud hitting me and being like, ‘If you need anything, I’m here for you,'” Rowland recalled. “It’s so awesome to have women in the industry who are so beautiful and hard-working and secure … lovely women. I’m just grateful to have that circle of women around me.”
The Grammy-winner also updated HuffPost on the friendship between Beyoncé and Jay Z’s 3-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, and Rowland’s baby son Titan, 16 months. “She has been [protective] since the day he was born,” the singer said.
