Carrying on a tradition. Khloé Kardashian was quick to reveal the name of her baby girl, True, just four days after she and boyfriend Tristan Thompson welcomed their daughter, but she’s now opening up about the family member who first proposed the unique name.
The 33-year-old Strong Looks Better Naked author revealed in a Monday, May 14, post to her Khloe With a K app that it was Kris Jenner’s mom who came to her with the idea for the name.
“My grandma MJ suggested True. She told me it was my great-grandfather’s first name and my grandfather’s middle name,” the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star wrote. “It stuck with me for my entire pregnancy and was the only one I couldn’t get out of my head.”
And while Kardashian adjusts to motherhood from the comfort of her Cleveland home — where her NBA star beau plays for the Cavaliers — she dished that she “can’t wait to get back to LA so True can finally meet MJ in person!”
The Good American founder announced the name of her baby girl in a sweet Instagram post on April 16. “Our little girl, True Thompson, has completely stolen our hearts and we are overwhelmed with LOVE,” she captioned the post. “Such a blessing to welcome this angel into the family! Mommy and Daddy loooooove you True!”
That same day, momager Kris Jenner gushed over the special meaning of her granddaughter’s name. “I’m excited to welcome my precious little granddaughter True!!!” she captioned a pic of pink balloons. “FUN FACT… my Grandfather’s name on my Dad’s side was True Otis Houghton….my Dad’s name was Robert True Houghton…so i am so excited Khloe named her daughter True!!! #lovebug #familytradition #family @true.”
Just two days before Kardashian gave birth to her first child with Thompson, 27, the athlete made headlines when photos and videos of him appearing to cheat on the reality star surfaced. Earlier this month, a source told Us Weekly that the couple had chosen the name prior to the news of Thompson’s infidelity.
“True had already been picked for a while,” the insider told Us. “She went into labor not even knowing the full scope of the cheating so the option of changing her name wasn’t even brought up. It’s too much for one person to deal with during the crazy time.”
The source added that “a lot of people thought she’d change the name and were waiting to send her gifts,” and noted that “everything that Khloe bought during her pregnancy was already monogrammed True.”
