Wait, you’ve been lying to me all these years? Celebs including Mila Kunis and Brad Pitt have reflected on the day they learned the man dressed in red would not be sliding down the chimney on Christmas Eve. 

Scroll through the photos below to read their sad stories. And for parents who want to keep the magic alive for their children, Neil Patrick Harris offered a tip. “I sort of say to everybody, ‘Isn’t it true that once you stop believing in Santa Claus, then Santa Claus stops delivering presents under the tree?’” the How I Met Your Mother alum told Us Weekly in November 2018. “Seems like it’s in everybody’s best interest to believe in Santa Claus.”

He was never a belieber. “My mom always told me there wasn’t a Santa,” the pop star told AOL Music in 2011. “This was her logic: She thought if I grew up knowing about Santa then finding out he wasn’t real, that it would be like she was lying to me.” But the Grammy winner didn’t spoil the fun for his classmates. “I didn’t tell my friends or ruin it for anyone,” he revealed. “I was a good kid!”

The “Jealous” singer didn’t grow up leaving out cookies and milk for Kris Kringle. “I was never given a lump of coal, thankfully,” he shared on Sounds of the Seasons Live TV series in 2017. “I also never believed in Santa Claus to be honest, so I wasn’t as easy to trick into thinking that it was real, and [that] I would get the coal if I was bad.”

Bah humbug! “I’m not real big on the whole Santa thing,” the Moneyball actor told E! News in 2012. “I thought it was a huge act of betrayal when I was a kid. I didn’t like that. When I found out the truth, I was like, ‘Why, why, why would you lie to me, why?’” For that reason, the dad of Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh and twins Vivienne and Knox didn’t push Santa onto his kids. “What I tell them is some people believe it’s Santa, and some people believe it’s parents,” he explained at the time. “And you get to believe whatever you want.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum found out the truth about Santa when she was in the ninth grade. “I was old and devastated,” Glanville told Entertainment Tonight in 2014. “I learned from kids in school.”

The Iron Man star’s dad ruined Santa for him when he was a little boy. “My drunk father [was] stumbling into my room,” he said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2010. “I woke up and I saw him stuffing stuff in my stocking and he went, ‘Ho, ho, ho.’”

“I was maybe, like, 5, 6, 7, — around there — and I came back from school and was like, ‘Somebody at school told me Santa wasn’t real,’” the A Bad Moms Christmas actress told BuzzFeed in 2017.  “My brother, who’s six years older than I am, was like, ‘Listen, I’ll tell you the truth — Santa doesn’t ride a sleigh. Clearly that doesn’t exist because we all know people don’t fly. He flies a plane! That’s how he gets around in one night.’ And that bought me another year!”

The former Dancing With the Stars pro recalled to Entertainment Tonight in 2014 how she once caught her dad putting presents under the tree. “I was a kid, so at that point they had had to sit me down and say, ‘Santa is very busy, and he can’t be everywhere at the same time, so dad is taking over and helping him out.’ And I was like, ‘Bulls—t!’’”
