Aaron Rodgers is paying no mind to the speculation that his mystery wife, Brittani, isn’t real.
“I don’t f***ing care about any of that,” Rodgers, 42, said during the Thursday, September 10, episode of Cam Heyward’s “Not Just Football” podcast, questioning whether people would be skeptical of his relationship had he not made headlines for being unvaccinated against COVID-19 in 2021.
“Would they have a platform if it wasn’t in vogue to, like, rip on the non-vaxed, you know, immunized guy who lied to his teammates and his organization?” he added, referring to critics who accused him of lying about being unvaccinated after he told a reporter in August 2021 that he was “immunized.” He has since shut down the speculation, insisting that his then-teammates and coaches on the Green Bay Packers were aware of his vaccination status.
Rodgers then recalled meeting his wife in 2017 shortly before she left the U.S. for Europe.
“My biggest regret is not begging her to stay or just, like, proposing right there,” he said. “Because that sent me into a tailspin of … what can I be accused of as a partner in a relationship? Like, I was emotionally unavailable, I think, for those seven or eight years because I’d met the person that changed my life. And after that, I just poured everything I had into football.”
Rodgers continued, “I think I got a lot out of that, for sure. But I knew I was supposed to be with this one person and I couldn’t. We were separated by an ocean for a lot of it.”
Rodgers and Brittani parted ways for a while after their initial meeting. The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback had high-profile relationships with Danica Patrick and Shailene Woodley, getting engaged to the latter in 2020 before their split the following year. Brittani, meanwhile, was also engaged to someone else.
Rodgers and Brittani eventually reconnected and began making headlines for their private romance in late 2024. The couple eloped in 2025.
“Luckily for me, we came back together,” he said on Thursday before looking back at how he proposed to Brittani.
“I had a little something set up when I was over there,” he teased. “A surprise for her. That’s about all I’m going to say about that.”
Though Rodgers’ wife has remained elusive, the athlete has shared details about their relationship through the years.
“When we met back in 2017, I knew that there was something crazy special about this, and I wanted to be with her,” he said on The Pat McAfee Show in March. “She would make funny comments like, ‘I would never live in Green Bay’ and ‘I don’t want to be a player’s wife.’ She’s not a public person.”
More recently, Rodgers hinted at his plans for his retirement from the NFL, which include starting a family with Brittani. (Rodgers has confirmed that the 2026 NFL season will be his last.)
“I’m hopefully going to be supporting my pregnant wife because we’re going to start a family and I am not going to be making a lot of appearances or statements,” he told Adam Schein of SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio on Tuesday, September 8. “And I’m looking forward to a life of quiet after 22 years in the pros and three in college and getting my body healed up and working on a family. That’s what I’m looking forward to.”
