Don’t cross Cinderella! Anna Kendrick was extremely upset that Jake Gyllenhaal dropped out of her upcoming film Into the Woods — so much so, that she confronted the actor about his decision.
“I was so pissed at Jake, let me tell you,” the Pitch Perfect actress, 29, recently told The Daily Beast. “I texted him and said, ‘You’re abandoning me, and I’m never going to forgive you!'”
Gyllenhaal was reportedly on deck to play Rapunzel’s suitor in the fantasy movie, but decided to star in the crime thriller Nightcrawler instead. (Billy Magnussen eventually won the role of the prince.) Kendrick was peeved about her End of Watch costar bailing, but eventually came to terms with it.
“I saw the trailer to Nightcrawler and texted him again and said, ‘Wow, you inspire me every day,'” she joked. As for working with Magnussen in Gyllenhaal’s place? He “is really fantastic,” she said.
Kendrick plays Cinderella in Into the Woods, which also stars Meryl Streep (The Witch), Emily Blunt (The Baker’s Wife), Johnny Depp (The Wolf), Chris Pine (Cinderella’s Prince), and James Corden (The Baker). It hits theaters Christmas Day.
