He's not worried! President Barack Obama revealed in a new interview on Raleigh, North Carolina's WDCG radio station that his daughters, Malia, 18, and Sasha, 15, have started "ditching" family dinners to go on dates, but said he isn't too concerned.
"The truth is, I'm pretty relaxed about it for two reasons," Obama, 55, explained on Friday, November 4. "One is [my wife] Michelle — she's such a great example of how she carries herself, her self-esteem, not depending on boys to validate how you look or not letting yourself be judged by anything other than your character and intelligence. Hopefully, I've been a good example in terms of how I show respect to my wife."
The second reason? "They have Secret Service," the POTUS quipped. "There's only so much these guys can do! These poor young men come by the house …"
"They have no idea," a WDCG radio DJ replied, as the commander in chief joked, "Oh, they have an idea. I describe for them."
Earlier this year, the first daughters encountered one of their celebrity crushes during the Canada state dinner at the White House. Sasha was photographed trying to keep her cool while chatting with Hollywood hunk Ryan Reynolds at the March 10 event, as older sister Malia gave her an adorable sign of approval — a big ol' thumbs up. The hilarious picture later went viral online.
The Obama family are currently enjoying their final days in the White House as the November 8 Election Day draws near. Last month, President Obama joked during an appearance at North Carolina A&T State University that he's "going to sleep for two weeks" after leaving the Oval Office. "And then I am going to take Michelle on a very nice vacation," he added.
