A couple of jokesters! Ben Affleck and Matt Damon reignited their epic bromance at the 2016 Spike Guys’ Choice Awards in Culver City, California, Saturday, June 4.
The duo were honored with the Guys of the Decade Award — and their hilarious acceptance speech proved why.
“I think it goes without saying that this is an award Matt and I have been dreaming about since we were little boys,” Gone Girl actor Affleck, 43, told the audience. “I did Gigli and Matt did that Liberace movie and all of a sudden, it all seemed out of reach. Then I did Batman and all of a sudden, it was back in reach again. Now, we’re the … coveted Dudes of the Decade … the Guys of the D–kheads? What is it?”
The Martian star Damon, 45, jokingly responded, “No, the D–kheads of the Decade Award.”
The fun-loving pair — who have been best buds since childhood and took home the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay together for Good Will Hunting in 1998 — also, sort of, thanked their fellow nominees.
“We will cherish this, and we we want to recognize some of the other nominees,” Damon said on Saturday. “Some of the dudes who weren’t quite as decade-worthy: George Clooney and Brad Pitt.”
Affleck jokingly added, “F–k you guys.”
After giving shout-outs to James Franco and Jonah Hill, Liam and Chris Hemsworth, Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith, Ben and Jerry, Daryl Hall and John Oates and several other famous duos, the actors thanked the “fearless men and women of our military service” and “everybody who goes and buys a movie ticket.”
Damon noted, “You’ve followed us through our careers. We just wouldn’t be here without you.”
The 2016 Guys’ Choice Awards will air on Spike Thursday, June 9, at 9 p.m. ET.
