Cumberbatch, 40, briefly addressed Hiddleston's love life — without naming the pop star — ahead of the Q&A.
"And there’s another weight of us being in the public eye, which is this presumption that, because your work and your promotion work is very public, your private life should be, too," the Sherlock star wrote. "And, without getting into a huge debate, I just want to say that I’m not going to ask questions about my friend’s personal life just because there are unsolicited photographs of him and a certain someone, in a relationship or together. I’m not going to get into that. So that door is closed, dear reader. … I know you’d do the same for me."
Earlier this month, Us Weekly exclusively revealed that Hiddleston, 35, and the "Wildest Dreams" singer, 26, split after three months of dating. Their high-profile romance quickly became serious. They traveled around the world together and met each other's parents after just a couple of weeks.
"She was the one to put the brakes on the relationship," a source told Us at the time. "Tom wanted the relationship to be more public than she was comfortable with. Taylor knew the backlash that comes with public displays of affection but Tom didn't listen to her concerns when she brought them up. … [He's] embarrassed that the relationship fizzled out."
Since the breakup, Swift has been spending time with friends, including Gigi Hadid, Lily Aldridge and Cara Delevingne. Hadid even confirmed that Swift is already back in the studio.
"I genuinely enjoy [playing Loki]," Hiddleston told Cumberbatch of his character in Interview. "I think I wouldn’t do it if the writing wasn’t so good, if I wasn’t being asked to do different things with the character. It really depends on what the obstacles and objectives are."
