Think again! Candis Cayne is set to be Caitlyn Jenner’s date at the 2015 ESPYS, but there’s nothing romantic between the two friends and trans rights activists.
After a false report from Star magazine claimed they were a couple, a source close to Cayne tells Us Weekly, “It was so ridiculous. What, is Candis suddenly a lesbian now? Candis is currently single but is only interested in men, and Caitlyn is a woman.” A source close to Jenner also confirms they are not dating.
The former Olympian, 65, is accepting the Arthur Ashe Courage Award at the televised ceremony and will not be walking the red carpet.
Cayne has been something of a mentor to the former Olympian throughout her very public transition, which is part of the reason she’s accompanying Jenner to the ESPYS.
The source adds, “It’s absolutely NOT a date.”
Cayne is one of the first transgender actresses in Hollywood and an inspiration for Jenner.
