Watch out, Nicole Kidman! Carrie Underwood told Us Weekly at the 2014 CMT Awards on Wednesday, June 4, that her choice for sexiest man in country music is Keith Urban—but he pales in comparison to her husband Mike Fisher.
The season four American Idol winner, who took home the honors for Video of the Year for "See You Again," was flustered when Us asked for her sexiest pick in the genre. "Oh goodness!" Underwood responded. "Well, my husband is the sexiest man I know of and he listens to a lot of country music and he knows the words to more country songs than I do. Does that count? I mean, Mike really is the sexiest to me."
"I guess, if I had to say a country star then, let me think…" she pondered. "Hmm…maybe Keith Urban?" she said, while insisting, "I don't mean that in a flirtatious way."
Underwood, 31, explained why she chose Urban—instead of other hunky country crooners like Luke Bryan, Dierks Bentley, and Blake Shelton—as her top pick: "Keith is just so talented and so good with a guitar," she said, and according to the powerhouse songstress, it also helps that Urban is so open about his marriage. "[He is] so in love with his wife," she gushed, "and, well, that's sexy."
Indeed, Aussies Urban, 46, and Kidman, 46, walked the CMT Awards red carpet Wednesday night, affectionately nuzzling each other in front of the cameras.
Similarly, Underwood was joined and supported by her pro-athlete hubby at the Nashville award show, even as Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals took place. An observer at the show saw Fisher gently fixing his wife's hair backstage after she won CMT's Video of the Year award (for the third consecutive year!).
Oklahoma native Underwood married the Canadian hockey player in 2010. Speaking with Us at an NYC event last month, Fisher, 34, said he really enjoys alone time with his wife. "We actually went away a few months ago to Turks and Caicos for the Olympic break for a week or 10 days," he said of his February vacation. "It was just awesome. It was nice to get away."
The two will have more time to spend together in the coming months. Underwood told Us she plans to "hang out in Canada in summer with his family."
