Three generations of gorgeousness! As one of eight women honored at the 22nd annual Elle Women in Hollywood Awards on Monday, Oct. 19, Dakota Johnson hit the red carpet at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills in style — and she brought all the famous ladies in her family with her, too!
Clad in an oil-slick Calvin Klein dress, Jacob & Co. diamonds, and peep-toe heels, Johnson, 26, was accompanied by her mother, Melanie Griffith, half-sister, Stella Banderas, and legendary grandmother, one of Hitchcock‘s most famous blondes, Tippi Hedren. (Johnson’s dad is actor Don Johnson.)
Clearly getting the style memo, Griffith, 58, Banderas, 19, and Hedren, 85, coordinated in chic black ensembles for the ceremony (sponsored by L’Oreal Paris and David Yurman).
After being introduced by Leslie Mann, Johnson took the stage to accept her award, delivering a heartfelt speech in which she thanked her mother and grandmother for “making her the woman she is today.”
Johnson, who’s been rocking brunette tresses since landing the role of Fifty Shades of Grey‘s Anastasia Steele, also thanked her grandma for being her biggest role model inside Elle‘s November issue: “When I saw her in Marnie, I just thought it was such a magical thing to be one way in real life and then be a completely different way [on-screen].”
Hedren could not agree more! Musing on those actors who say they would not want their children in the business, the Birds star told Us at a Bellacures event in her honor, “Why would you be in it if you wouldn’t want your child to do it? You could also be a secretary and be a whore! Being a secretary is a perfectly responsible job! Being an actress, you have your morals, you have your standards, and you want to be successful. And no matter what vocation you take on, you can stay classy.”
She added, “I am so proud of my daughter and my granddaughter. I’m just thrilled for them. Just thrilled.”
