Did Justin Bieber Throw Shade at Prince? See the Comment

UPDATE: A rep for Bieber told Gossip Cop that the alleged screenshot was “fabricated.”

Think before you comment. Fans are angry at Justin Bieber for what appears to be a totally thoughtless comment on guitarist Andrew Watt‘s tribute to musical icon Prince.

It looks like the “What Do You Mean” hitmaker might have decided to chime in on Watt’s heartfelt outpouring to the man he described as his “guitar idol” as news of the 57-year-old musician’s death at his Paisley Park studio broke.

The former California Breed guitarist made an emotional posting where he promised to dedicate his performance later that night to the “Purple Rain” superstar and described him as “the last of the greatest living performers.”

And judging by a screenshot of the comments section which has since been shared online, it seems Bieber decided to take issue with the wording of Watt’s eulogy, commenting (in a message that has since been deleted): “Well not the last greatest living performer.”

While the 22-year-old currently dreadlocked star may not have been purposefully throwing shade at Prince (rather than criticizing Watt’s choice of words), fans on Instagram were completely unimpressed at what appears to be a decision to pick holes in the emotional outpouring.

“I’m content to say that Prince has more talent in his little toe nail than @justinbeiber will ever have,” one follower blasted.

“R.I.P Prince #legend can’t believe Bieber disrespected him like this, shame,” agreed another.
