Spotlight's on him now. Dr. Phil will stage an intervention with Bobbi Kristina Brown's boyfriend Nick Gordon in an exclusive segment airing next week, the studio confirmed to Us Weekly on Thursday, Mar. 5.
The episode is centered on Gordon, who is promoted as "distraught and out of control" while his longtime love remains in a medically induced coma.
Joining Gordon in the national television exclusive will be his mother, Michelle, as she and Dr. Phil conduct an "emotionally charged intervention."
The psychiatric expert will offer Gordon the treatment he "appears to so desperately need," it says in the release. It is also revealed that Gordon has been battling drug and alcohol addiction.
A snippet from Dr. Phil's sit-down with both Gordon and his mother shows that Bobbi Kristina's boyfriend has been struggling with immense guilt after the R&B scion was found facedown and unresponsive in a bathtub on Jan. 31.
"As we sit here right now, my son’s life hangs in the balance," his worried mother tells Dr. Phil. "When Whitney was found, he administered CPR to her and called me as he was standing in front of her saying, 'Mom, why couldn’t I do it? I couldn’t get air into her lungs,'" the mother shared. "He won’t let go of the guilt." (It remains unclear whether she meant Bobbi.)
Meanwhile, Bobbi Kristina continues to fight for her life at Emory University Hospital. Pat Houston released a statement on Bobbi's birthday, Mar. 4, providing the latest update on her niece's condition.
"Today is Bobbi Kristina's 22nd birthday," Pat wrote on Whitney Houston's website. "And we ask you to continue to keep her in your prayers as she is still fighting the battle of her life."
Gordon, for his part, took to Twitter to wish his love a happy 22nd birthday.
Happy Birthday baby I wish I was there with you to hold you and be by your side
