Actress Elizabeth Pena, who starred in La Bamba and Lone Star, died from alcohol abuse, TMZ reports.
According to her death certificate obtained by the site, Pena, who passed away at the age of 55 on Oct. 14, suffered from cirrhosis of the liver "due to alcohol."
TMZ reports the actress, who portrayed Sofia Vergara's character's mom on Modern Family, had been suffering from the disease for months, but it became acute shortly before her death.
