Venetian vows! George Clooney and his fiancée Amal Alamuddin will say “I do” in Venice, Italy in a few weeks, the movie star let slip this past weekend.
Clooney and Alamuddin were in Florence, Italy for the star-studded Celebrity Fight Night benefiting the Andrea Bocelli Foundation and the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center on Sunday, Sept. 7. The actor, 53, accepted the Andrea Bocelli Humanitarian Award at the event from Bocelli himself.
During his acceptance speech for the award, Clooney mentioned his future wife Alamuddin, 36, and hinted at the couple’s wedding plans.
“I met my lovely bride-to-be here in Italy, whom I will be marrying, in a couple of weeks, in Venice, of all places,” he told the crowd, according to The Independent. There was previous speculation that the nuptials would be held at Clooney’s home in Lake Como, Italy.
The Monuments Men star proposed to his British lawyer love this past April after they began dating in late 2013.
“This is the healthiest relationship I’ve ever seen George in,” a source told Us Weekly this past spring. “He seems incredibly happy, and Amal is such a sweet and intelligent girl, who has her own thoughts and ideas and doesn’t just bow down to everything he says.”
A notorious bachelor, Clooney was previously married to actress Talia Balsam from 1989 to 1993, going on to have relationships with famous faces including Lisa Snowdon, Elisabetta Canalis, and Stacy Keibler. This will be the first marriage for Alamuddin.
