Who ya gonna call? Ghostbusters stars Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and director Paul Feig sat down with Us Weekly Video to dish on the movie’s classic theme song, whether they believe in ghosts and much more. Watch the clip above to see the exclusive interview!
In the all-female reboot of the classic 1984 movie, paranormal enthusiasts Abby Yates (McCarthy) and Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig), engineer Jillian Holtzmann (McKinnon) and subway worker Patty Tolan (Jones) take on New York City’s growing ghost problem. The crew drives around the Big Apple in a Cadillac version of the iconic Ecto-1 hearse, courtesy of Patty’s uncle, and use improved proton packs to fight off the slightly more HD paranormal spirits.
From the trailers, it seems like a lot of laughs and slime are definitely in store, as the women attempt to save Times Square and tourists from hundreds of ghosts. The movie doesn’t just have the funniest ladies around, but Chris Hemsworth also stars as the nerdy but totally hot receptionist, Kevin.
When McCarthy sat down with Us Weekly Video, she revealed she's had some real-life experience with spooky spirits in her home.
“I do believe in ghosts,” she tells Us. “I lived in a house in Boulder, Colorado, that every time you walked up there, everyone who walked up there said, ‘Oh, I don’t like this.' There was just a presence.” Luckily, she had a good sense of humor about it. “Why does it keep spelling out ‘Melissa’ in blood?” she joked of her home’s phantom.
