As they say in the South, bless her heart. Many were confused on Thursday, Nov. 6, when former Hills standout Heidi Montag sent troubled star Amanda Bynes a very public invitation to come stay with her on Twitter.
“@amandabynes you are more then welcome to crash in our guest house in Santa Barbara if you need somewhere to stay! DM me!” she tweeted.
Now Montag, 28, has clarified her tweet in an on-camera interview with Extra, explaining why she reached out to the Easy A star, 28. Noting she had cleared it with her husband Spencer Pratt beforehand, Lauren Conrad’s former roomie said Bynes was welcome to stay in their Santa Barbara guest house.
“It’s out of L.A. and it’s nice and relaxing. If she doesn’t have somewhere to go, she definitely can stay for free at our house so she doesn’t have to be sleeping on a couch,” Montag said. “She hasn’t contacted me, but I’m hoping that she will.”
It’s not particularly surprising that the former child star hasn’t responded to Montag’s offer, considering she doesn’t know her.
“I haven’t ever met Amanda, but I think she’s a very talented actress,” the former reality star admitted. “I grew up watching her works. I think that she’s one of the most talented actresses in Hollywood, and she has a great path ahead of her.”
Montag went on to say that she’s been surprised that others in Hollywood have not reached out to the actress in the wake of her latest breakdown.
In October, Bynes accused her father (via Twitter) of sexual abuse, then retracted the statements before being placed on psychiatric hold. At the end of the month, she was released from the facility, at which time she claimed she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Bynes went on to complain about her parents, who she says are withholding money from her.
The former FIDM student is currently trying to end the conservatorship between her parents, leading her to tweet out that she’s currently homeless.
