Jax Taylor has broken his silence after estranged wife Brittany Cartwright was granted a temporary restraining order amid allegations of domestic violence.
“I made a lot of mistakes and behaved in ways during that period of my life that I’m truly ashamed of and regret and take full responsibility for,” Taylor, 47, told E! News in a statement on Friday, August 28. “The person I was in 2024, during the darkest time of my life and at the height of my addiction, is not the person I am today.”
The Vanderpump Rules alum noted, “I got help, went to treatment, and today I’m 1 year and 9 months sober. I’ve remained committed to treatment and therapy, working on myself and changing my life.” (Taylor checked himself into a 90-day treatment program in 2024 after being vocal about his mental health issues.)
Taylor, who shares son Cruz, 5, with Cartwright, 37, claimed that “there are allegations being made that I strongly dispute.”
He added, “The full story, context and evidence will be addressed where it belongs — in court. I will respect the court’s orders and the legal process.”
Taylor — who was married to Cartwright from 2019 to 2024 before she filed for divorce — insisted, “My focus continues to be my sobriety, working on my mental health, being the best father I can be to Cruz and moving forward in a healthy and responsible way.”
Taylor’s statement comes shortly after Us confirmed on Friday that a judge granted Cartwright’s temporary restraining order against him, which she filed one day prior.
According to court viewed by Us, Cartwright claimed that Taylor exhibited “coercive control, financial abuse, emotional and psychological abuse, gaslighting and even physical violence perpetrated upon” her for nearly a decade.
The Valley star alleged in the Thursday, August 27, filing that Taylor once threatened to “gut [her] like a fish” and physically attacked her during their marriage.
Cartwright further alleged that while attending their son’s school orientation earlier this month together, “Jax became visibly aggressive and hostile towards me.”
She claimed that Taylor, who is now dating Cartwright’s former publicist Lori Krebs, called her “gross” and that others who saw the interaction were “rather uncomfortable.”
Cartwright alleged that Taylor “has a tendency of not being able to control his anger and emotions.”
Us confirmed on Friday that a judge ordered Taylor to stay 100 yards away from Cartwright. Her request for sole custody of Cruz was denied pending a court hearing.
