Jay, meet Jay! For years Saturday Night Live cast member Jay Pharoah has been impersonating rapper Jay Z on the NBC sketch comedy show. Pharoah, 27, who is also known for his Kanye West impressions, recently crossed paths with the “Holy Grail” emcee at the afterparty for SNL’s 40th anniversary special.
“At the afterparty, Jay Z came up to me and said ‘What up, fake Jay Z, hahaha,’ and he just walked off,” Pharoah told Page Six at the Gotham magazine party on Monday, Feb. 23 in NYC.
The comedian also interacted with HOVA’s famed wife Beyonce, but the “Diva” singer was hesitant to hang out.
“Beyoncé was like, ‘I don’t want to say anything about you because I don’t want you to impersonate me,’” Pharoah said.
During SNL 40, alum Maya Rudolph reprised her role as Beyonce, using a wind machine to blow back her lengthy locks.
Pharoah talked to Us Weekly at the event about his other famous impression of Kim Kardashian‘s outspoken husband.
“He’s a good dude,” the SNL star insisted of West. “He really is. He’s a nice guy.”
The “Only One” singer, 37, performed during the live special and was frequently mocked by the show’s current and returning cast.
