Jessie J and boyfriend Chanan Colman quietly split after welcoming their first baby together.

“Chanan and I decided to end our romantic relationship some time ago,” the singer, 38, wrote via Instagram on Monday, July 20. “It has been a sad and difficult situation, but we have been focused on navigating the change privately and positively for a healthy and happy coparenting environment for our son, and ourselves.”

Jessie explained why it was important for her to address the breakup herself.

“Unfortunately being in the public eye this is the easiest way to let people know the truth, before rumours circulate or a false narrative is written,” she continued.

Despite their decision to part ways, Jessie clarified that the pair were in a good place, adding, “We will always continue supporting each other with love, respect and care as friends and most importantly being Sky’s Mum and Dad.”

She concluded: “So if you see us out and about together as a family, or posting each other on socials every now and again. That’s exactly what we are doing. Raising and loving Sky together, supported with a positive friendship.”

The former couple started dating in 2021. They announced in 2023 that Jessie was pregnant with their first baby, and their son, Sky, was born later that year.

Ahead of their split, the professional basketball player, 42, was by Jessie’s side as she battled breast cancer.

“I was diagnosed with early breast cancer. I’m highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form but I’m holding onto the word early,” Jessie told fans in a June 2025 social media video. “I have been in and out of tests throughout this whole period. I just wanted to be open and share it. One, because, selfishly, I do not talk about it enough. I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard. I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I’m an open book.”

Later that month, Jessie offered an update on her treatment.

“Pros: Cancer has all gone,” she wrote via her Instagram Stories. “My nipple is where it used to be [and] I can watch Love Island with no guilt. I am getting to rest and talk to friends more than ever.”

Jessie noted that she still had a lingering “fear” that the cancer might return. She later clarified that her cancer was not “all gone.”

“You have [misunderstood] my post,” she claimed. “I posted a list of pros and cons of having breast cancer surgery. The first pro I put was … The cancer has all gone. This was a positive affirmation, NOT a fact.”

She continued, “I don’t have my results yet. l added the emoji in thinking people would understand and clearly a lot didn’t. A weird situation. My fault for not being clearer. But for now I do not have my results after surgery which was only 6 nights ago. I pray it will be true soon, but the journey of cancer isn’t that simple unfortunately!!”

Earlier this year, Jessie announced that she is officially cancer-free.

“‼️RESULTS ARE IN AND I AM CANCER FREE‼️😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭,” she captioned an Instagram Reel from her doctor’s office in May. “I sobbed for hours and then exhaled for the first time in a year 🌱🔋.”
