It wouldn't be Saturday Night Live if they weren't joking about the awkward topics! On Sunday, Feb. 15, the best in comedy and music hit the red carpet at the SNL 40th anniversary for an evening of live sketches and performances.
Longtime guest host Jim Carrey spoke to Today show co-hosts Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie on the red carpet with Tina Fey by his side. Things took a turn for the awkward right as Carrey, 53, and Fey, 44, were exiting the interview.
"Can I ask you a question, you guys?" Carrey asked. "Where are you hiding Brian Williams? Where is he? I just want to say something in his defense. If the helicopter in front of me gets hit, I'm taking the story."
The NBC morning show co-hosts looked uncomfortable, and Lauer jokingly said, "Oh, look at the time!"
Earlier this month, longtime NBC news anchor Williams, 55, was suspended without pay for six months during the ongoing investigation into his false claims about covering the Iraq War in 2003.
