Joey Feek and Her Daughter Get a Visit from Santa: See the Touching Photos

Joey and Rory Feek Daughter Santa

’Tis the season. Joey Feek and her daughter Indiana got the surprise of a lifetime on Friday, December 18, when Santa Claus popped by their home for the holidays, “a week early, but right on time.”

Joey’s husband Rory documented the visit, during which Indiana — who just turned 22 months one day earlier — was initially slightly terrified.

“Some friends of ours from Arkansas, Dave and Nicole Trudo, called a few days ago and said that they were sending a box filled-with-goodies to us and that it was going to be delivered in a special way… and boy, they weren’t kidding,” Rory wrote on the blog he keeps to document the couple’s life together, This Life I Live.

The country singer, 49, also shared a series of touching photos, in which Indiana got increasingly comfortable with the man in the red suit, even sitting on mom Joey’s lap at one point to have a chat with jolly old Saint Nick.

“When the presents were opened and his work was through, Santa found a spot next to Joey and made himself at home – just like an old friend,” Rory recalled. “He said he knew our music (I had no idea Santa was a country music fan) and was a little nervous about coming to see us this evening – not knowing what to expect – or if Joey would be up for their visit. But I think once he saw my bride sitting on the couch and smiling when he came in, and enjoying the evening… he settled in and hopefully had as good a time as we did.”

Joey’s mother June was also on-hand for the surprise visit, posing for a photo with Mrs. Claus at one point in the evening.

Joey, 40, was diagnosed with stage IV cervical cancer in 2014, and opted to halt all treatments last month after chemotherapy was deemed ineffective.

The pair, who comprise bluegrass duo Joey + Rory, have remained determined to stay positive amid tragedy, and Rory has since been documenting their life at home on his personal blog and on Facebook.

“Joey’s hope never fades. No amount of pain or medicine can touch it. It runs too deep. It’s connected to her faith in God,” Rory wrote in a poignant post on November 14. “And as she will tell you, God can do anything.”
