Justin Bieber’s not sorry about his new face tattoo. The “What Do You Mean” singer surprised fans when he got the unlikely body art at West 4th Tattoo Parlor in NYC on Friday, May 6, but his tattoo artist tells Us Weekly that the pop star got it for a good reason.
“Justin came in last night and decided on a small cross near the corner of his eye,” tattoo artist Jonboy tells Us. “It represents his journey in finding purpose with God.”
As Us Weekly previously reported, Bieber 22, and close pal Joe Termini got matching cross tattoos just below their eyes on Friday night before the pop star performed an impromptu mini-concert at Manhattan hotspot Up & Down, crooning recent hits “Sorry” and “What Do You Mean?”
Bieber currently has more than 50 tattoos, including one that reads “Purpose” (in a nod to his latest album), a pair of wings on his back and a giant cross.
In an interview with GQ magazine earlier this year, the songwriter said he would consider getting a face tattoo when he’s “really old, not super old, but maybe, like, forties or fifties or something.”
“I think if they’re done right, they could be cool, but nothing supercrazy all over the face,” he added.
