It's over. Engaged for less than two months, Karina Smirnoff and her fiancé Jason Adelman have called it quits.
The former Dancing With the Stars pro, 37, has scrapped her plans to marry the actor, also 37. The American Dreams alum proposed to Smirnoff in mid-January, but their bliss did not last long.
A source close to the couple confirms to Us Weekly that the split is official, and adds that it is "such a complicated mess."
"It's a very sticky situation," the insider says. "[Smirnoff] won't discuss the engagement because she is so distressed about the entire thing."
At promotional events for her new book We're Just Not That Into You in recent weeks, Smirnoff was seen without her massive engagement ring from Adelman on her finger. The Uncle Sam actor presented the dancer with an impressive multi-carat emerald-cut diamond ring at the time of his proposal.
The stunning star previously ended two other engagements. In 2008 she accepted a proposal from fellow DWTS dancer Maksim Chmerkovskiy, but their relationship ended less than a year later. She was subsequently engaged to MLB player Brad Penny from late 2010 until their split in late 2011.
