Katie Holmes spent the morning of her 34th birthday with her favorite person in the world: Suri Cruise!
On Tuesday, Dec. 18, the two enjoyed breakfast at the Upper West Side bistro, bakery and chocolatier Sugar and Plumm, a source tells Us Weekly. After feasting on silver dollar pancakes and eggs benedict prepared by chef Ben Dodaro, Holmes was given a birthday surprise by pastry chef Pichet Ong: a homemade vanilla sponge cake layered with strawberry jam and vanilla buttercream frosting that said “Happy Birthday Katie.”
Throughout the month of December, Holmes has been teaching her little girl how to be a domestic diva! On Dec. 9, the mother-daughter duo (and a few of the 6-year-old’s pals) visited Georgetown Cupcake in New York City’s Soho neighborhood for a “holiday cupcake decoration workshop,” a source tells Us. “The kids got messy!”
Though the children took their sweets home, Holmes “took cupcakes to the cast and crew” of her Broadway show, Dead Accounts.
Holmes and her little girl returned for another afternoon of cupcake decorating Dec. 17, one day before the actress’ birthday. Joined once again by the elementary school student’s friends, the group was photographed having fun in the same store, with Holmes wearing a light pink apron over her all-pink ensemble.
“So much fun having Katie, Suri and friends for cupcake decorating at Georgetown Cupcake,” the company tweeted. (Other celebrity fans of the cupcake chain include Kim Kardashian, 32, and Kevin Jonas, 25.)
Following Holmes’ June split with husband Tom Cruise, the Dawson’s Creek alum and her little girl currently reside in a $12,500-a-month apartment in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood. Cruise, 50, is currently in the Big Apple promoting his new movie, Jack Reacher.
