Katy Perry is recalling the emotions she felt performing in front of her boyfriend, Justin Trudeau, for the first time during her Lifetimes Tour.
“I always create a super special fan experience,” Perry, 41, said during a VIP screening of Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour — Live from Paris that Us attended on Wednesday, August 26. “But I don’t typically get nervous. Maybe I get some butterflies on the first show because it’s all the things coming together, and because of social media, you want to kind of get it right.”
She continued, “But in Montreal, you know, this is the tour. This is the Lifetimes Tour. When the documentary comes, y’all might see me in a different way because … in Montreal, I was like, ‘I can’t look at him.’ A lot of energy.”
The former Canadian prime minister was spotted in July 2025 standing nearly front row at Perry’s sold-out Lifetimes Tour concert in Montreal. Trudeau could be seen smiling as the pop star took the stage, per footage online. The couple had started dating just days prior.
Perry also had another important face — her 6-year-old daughter, Daisy — in the crowd during her Lifetimes Tour. While reflecting on the experience, Perry shared on Wednesday that it was “really important and wonderful” for Daisy to “see her mom and her power.” (Perry welcomed Daisy with ex Orlando Bloom in 2020.)
“I think in the beginning of this tour, from the outside, everyone that wants to have a hot take, there were a lot of people betting against me, right, in the very beginning, and this and that. I’m having fun,” she said at AMC The Grove in Los Angeles. “I’m living my whole life. You want to call me the queen of cringe? I’m gonna suck the juice out of every single one of these fruits in this life. I’m gonna never have any regrets. I’m gonna leave no stone unturned. I’m going to live my life to the fullest. I am not scared.”

She continued, “This is that one opportunity in this skin, you know, as this character, and I don’t want to have any regrets. And it was wonderful for Daisy to see, and it wasn’t always peachy-keen jelly bean, right? There were days that were hard. It was hard before July 28, and then it got pretty. It got cute. It got really cute.”
Perry (wearing a Magda Butrym dress) whispered to the crowd, “I went to Canada,” alluding to her boyfriend.
“And then I got real cute, and then I was floating like the butterfly on the butterfly,” she said. “But before that, I remember it was actually the lowest part.”
She continued, “My friends were all together [while I was on tour], and I had missed a couple of things back home, and I was missing home. I was gone for like six weeks, and that’s pretty much my max. I started to go insane, and I remember I was having a really tough time, and then after the hurricane came the rainbow. Those clichés in your darkest times, like right after that, it was like poof.”
Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour — Live from Paris hits cinemas and IMAX worldwide Wednesday, September 2, for a limited time only.
