Kendall Jenner: “It Sucked’ Watching Parents Kris, Bruce Jenner Split

Kendall Jenner admitted "it sucked" watching her mom Kris and dad Bruce split after 22 years of marriage.

Real talk with Kendall! Keeping Up With the Kardashians star Kendall Jenner opened up to Nightline‘s Juju Chang recently about how fame affected her during her parents’ highly publicized split, and how she’s learned to deal with unnecessary chatter.

“It sucked,” the reality star, 19, candidly remarked about the separation. “But it’s not — I try to think of it as it’s not the worst thing that could have happened.” (Kris Jenner exclusively released a statement to Us Weekly last fall, saying she and Bruce Jenner were splitting after 22 years of marriage. The two, though, have remained committed to co-parenting Kendall and Kylie, 17. “We have children together, and we have memories and holidays and traditions,” Kris told Us last month. “I don’t want to give that up. I don’t want him to take that away from me and I don’t want to take that away from him.”)

Indeed, Kendall reiterated her close bond with her parents while speaking with Chang. “I still am so close with both my dad and my mom,” the model reflected. “Nothing has really changed, except for the fact that now my dad lives on a beach, which is awesome. That’s not that bad… everybody’s happy.”

Kendall added that while it was difficult to watch her parents’ split play out in the spotlight, she understands that scrutiny “comes with the territory” of fame. Above all else, the newest face of Estee Lauder said she would rather choose to mute the unnecessary chatter.

“If you just ignore it and go on and you’re like, ‘I know what’s real,'” she told Nightline. “My family, my friends, they know what’s real. So what else, why does that matter?”

The same is applicable to her modeling career. Kendall claimed that her latest success came largely by her own merit. “I’m not trying to use a family name or anything,” the star said. “In reality I worked pretty hard for this… it wasn’t like I just got it magically and it just happened.”
