So vintage! During the Kardashian clan’s vacation to Cuba, Kim Kardashian wore the choker that the late Nicole Brown Simpson gave her mom, Kris Jenner, as a gift in 1988.
Kardashian, 35, wore the Gothic-inspired ‘80s accessory on Wednesday, May 4, while exploring the city of Havana in a bright pink convertible with some of her famous family members.
The Selfish author — who paired the necklace with an all-white ensemble and loose, wavy tresses — was spotted snapping selfies during her cruise around town with husband Kanye West, daughter North, 2, sister Kourtney and Kourtney’s son Mason, 6, as cameras rolled for upcoming episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians.
The E! personality first debuted the lacy cross-pendant via Snapchat on Sunday, May 1. “My mom’s necklace,” she captioned a snapshot showing off her new bling. “Gift from Nicole Brown Simpson #1988.”
Brown Simpson, who was a longtime friend of Jenner’s, was brutally murdered in June 1994. Her ex-husband and former football star, O.J. Simpson, was tried for but acquitted of her murder in a now-infamous court case.
Jenner’s late husband, Robert Kardashian, was a member of Simpson’s legal team. The trial was revisited earlier this year on FX’s miniseries, The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story.
In March, Jenner opened up to Ellen DeGeneres about how she felt as though she “failed” Brown Simpson as a friend.
“She and I were supposed to have lunch the day after she was murdered,” the reality TV matriarch recalled. “She said she wanted to show me some things and talk about what was in her safe. So now, unfortunately, it all makes sense … That’s probably what she wanted to reveal to me that next day, which broke my heart because I will always feel horrible that I didn’t pay enough attention.”
