The TV personality, 46, was visibly emotional as she shared her thoughts on former colleague Bush, 44, while chatting with Natalie Morales Monday, October 10.

“He was always in my corner,” Hoover explained. “I was just devastated to watch all this unfold because the Billy that I know — and that a lot of people would say — has the biggest heart of anybody, and he is a good person.”

Morales, 44, added, “One of the first people to call me and congratulate me when I announced that I would be getting this job [on Access] was Billy. He also offered advice and offered to help with my move and transition.”

As Us Weekly previously reported, Bush was suspended from his new gig as cohost of Today‘s third hour late Sunday, October 9, just two days after a video of his lewd conversation with Trump, 70, was released by The Washington Post. In the 2005 clip, the former Access Hollywood cohost egged on the Republican presidential candidate as he vulgarly bragged about hitting on women. Trump also claimed in the leaked audio that he “can do anything” because of his fame, including grabbing women “by the p–sy.”

The video instantly caused a frenzy, prompting several leading GOP figures to drop their support for Trump. Later on Sunday, the real estate mogul was asked about his crass remarks during the second 2016 presidential debate, but he brushed them off as “locker-room talk.”

“I’m not proud of it,” Trump added. “I apologized to my family. To the American people.”
