Maksim Chmerkovskiy confirmed that former Dancing With the Stars partner Erin Andrews is engaged to her longtime beau, NHL player Jarret Stoll, during an interview with Fox 5 in Las Vegas on Friday, December 9.
Asked to name his best and worst celebrity partners, Chmerkovskiy, 36, offered up season 18 winner Meryl Davis as one of his best, along with Andrews, 38, who he quipped “maybe just got engaged.”
The dancing pro smiled as he delivered the news and justified it as “payback” for the time earlier this year when the sportscaster accidentally announced Chmerkovskiy and fiancée Peta Murgatroyd’s pregnancy news while mic’d up backstage.
Though the DWTS host herself has not publicly announced her engagement, she has dropped hints on social media that point to a status update.
On Thursday, December 8, Andrews tweeted an image of the cold temperatures in Wisconsin, with the caption: “This weather at Lambeau is really going to put a damper on my ring game @jarretstoll.”
Then, when Twitter followers — including Dancing pro Emma Slater — tweeted at the sports newscaster to demand a confirmation, Andrews did not deny the speculation, instead responding with kissy-face emojis and hearts.
In September 2015, Andrews played coy when asked whether she thought Stoll, 34, was “The One” during an interview with Redbook, instead pointing out that she’s come to expect the unexpected.
“I have no idea what tomorrow will bring,” Andrews said at the time. “We’re brought up thinking our lives are going to be a Taylor Swift song. Then you get older and wiser. You don’t know what is going to bring you happiness.”
Andrews and Stoll first started dating in 2012, but hit a rough patch in early 2015 after the athlete was arrested on suspicion of cocaine and ecstasy possession.
“I happen to be one of those women who thinks it is possible to have it all,” Andrews also said in the Redbook interview. “Where I grew up, a lot of women start having children at 22. All of my friends from college and high school have three kids now. I’m not even engaged! I hope to have that, but look at what I’ve done: I’ve hopefully had a hand in opening the door for other women. I believe family is the next step.”
