June “Mama June” Shannon’s ex Mike “Sugar Bear” Thompson is newly engaged.
On Sunday, September 27, a woman named Taylor Star took to TikTok to share a series of photos with Thompson, 56. In one of the snaps, Star held up her hand to show off a diamond engagement ring as she leaned into Thompson and smiled.
While neither Star nor Thompson directly confirmed their engagement, Star “liked” several comments from fans offering their congratulations.
“I did a double take and said, ‘Damn, is that Sugar Bear?’ I haven’t seen him in forever,” one comment read. “Congratulations to you both.”
Several fans also asked what happened to Thompson’s ex-wife, Jennifer Lamb, whom he married in 2017. After receiving similar comments on a post earlier this month, Star reportedly reassured fans that Sugar Bear and Lamb “divorced some years ago,” according to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup.
Lamb previously announced her separation from Thompson in December 2021.
“Me and Mike have went our separate ways,” she wrote via Facebook at the time. “Yes, it’s hard but we will work through it and we will still remain friends. So now when everyone sees us and we are not together everyone will know what’s going on.”
Lamb, who appeared on Mama June: Family Crisis with Thompson, also confirmed her decision to leave the show.
“I am [truly] grateful that I got to do six [seasons] on WeTV with some great people,” she wrote. “I thought I would never get to do and meet some of the most famous people ever.”
After his split from Lamb, Thompson moved on with a woman named Heather Rood.
“Let me introduce you to this amazing person! He gets me! He is so loving, devoting and patient with me. He is my calm and makes me feel good from the inside and out. He is such a kind and gentle soul!” Lamb wrote via Instagram in May 2022. “As we got to know each other there were so many things we have in common. He makes me laugh! He makes me smile! He makes me feel beautiful every single day! When he is around I feel so relaxed. Thank you for coming into my life at a point where I felt hopeless! Love ya babes @realsugarbear.”
While it’s unclear when exactly Rood and Thompson split, the pair last posted on social media together in October 2022.
Thompson rose to reality TV fame during his relationship with Shannon, 47, which began in 2004. They welcomed daughter Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson in August 2005. Though the couple was never legally married, they spiritually tied the knot in a commitment ceremony in May 2013. Thompson and Shannon — who is also a mom to daughters Jessica, 29, Lauryn, 26, and late daughter Anna, who died at age 29 in December 2023 — separated in September 2014.
