Mariah Carey‘s 35-carat diamond engagement ring isn’t the only thing on the move. The pop diva stepped out in Los Angeles on Saturday, October 29, with backup dancer Bryan Tanaka days after news broke of her split from James Packer.
Carey was photographed arriving and leaving Catch restaurant with Tanaka, who was rumored to be one of the causes of tension in Carey and Packer’s relationship. (A source told Us, however, that the close pals weren’t romantically involved, and that Carey “didn’t cheat.”)
Inside the L.A. hot spot, the “Hero” singer chatted with another close friend and posed for a sweet photo together, which Carey later shared on Instagram, breaking her brief social media silence.
“#realfriends who don’t read Woman’s Day,” the entertainer captioned the post, throwing shade at the Australian magazine that first broke the news of the split. “#wedontknowyou We love you #Australianlambs.”
Drama aside, Carey looked stunning at Catch in a short black dress (which accentuated her cleavage), fishnet stockings and black heels. She wore an enormous butterfly ring on her left ring finger and switched her $10 million engagement ring over to her right hand, wearing it loosely midway down her middle finger.
As Us Weekly previously reported, the five-time Grammy winner and her billionaire beau, 49, who proposed in January, separated after they got into a fight during a vacation in Greece last month.
Sources told Us that the duo parted ways because they clashed over her spending and his alleged temper. Their very public relationship also took a toll on Packer, who “wanted his normal life back,” an insider told Us.
Carey and ex-husband Nick Cannon split in August 2014 after six years of marriage and share twins Moroccan and Monroe, 5. Carey was also married to music executive Tommy Mottola in the ’90s.
