Baby on the way! Michael Phelps announced via Instagram on Wednesday, Nov. 18, that he and fiancee Nicole Johnson are set to welcome their first child — a baby boy!
“We found out eight weeks ago that we were expecting,” the Olympian, 30, captioned a pic of himself holding Johnson’s pregnant belly. “Today we’re over 12 weeks and it looks like we’re having a boy! #babymp #lifeabouttochange #mpswim @djnolan5”
The 22-time medalist got engaged to Johnson, 29, back in February. And just as he did with the pregnancy reveal, he announced the exciting news via an Insta snap.
“She said yes,” the pro swimmer captioned the pic of himself frolicking in the snow with Johnson on Saturday, Feb. 21.
The bride-to-be shared the same snap on her own account. “I’m gonna be a Mrs. Phelps,” she wrote, prominently showing off her sparkling ring.
Before getting engaged, the couple had been in an on-again, off-again relationship for years. Johnson first dated the athlete in 2011 when he competed in the FINA World Championships. The two reunited last summer.
Recently, Phelps opened up to Sports Illustrated about attending rehab following two DUI arrests, and how it had changed him for the better.
“Haven’t had a single sip and will not have a sip,” he exclaimed on Tuesday, Nov. 10. “I worked, recovered, slept, and took care of myself more than I ever had.”
