Should've kept the party in the USA! Miley Cyrus has ruffled the feathers of Mexican government officials after one of her dancers spanked her onstage with a Mexican flag.
The incident occurred during the singer's wild performance during her Bangerz Tour stop in Monterrey, Mexico, on Sept. 16, which is also the country's independence day. TMZ obtained a video of the rowdy performance, which featured Cyrus twerking, grinding, and getting spanked by two male dancers while wearing a big fake butt.
A Mexican state legislature has requested that the federal government slap Cyrus, 21, with a fine of $1,270, along with a sentence of 36 hours in jail, the AFP reported Thursday, Sept. 18.
A local lawmaker told Reuters that the Nuevo Leon state legislature has already approved Cyrus' warrant for desecrating the Mexican flag, and has passed it along to the Interior Ministry.
According to Reuters, Mexican officials are extremely sensitive about the use of its national symbols. Back in 2008, Mexican singer Paulina Rubio was fined $4,000 for posing nude in a magazine, with only her country's flag draped over her body.
