“Mic check, mic check one.. two… is this thing on?!” the first tweet simply read.

‘N Sync is expected to perform “Bye Bye Bye” from their 2000 album No Strings Attached and “will reenact some of their greatest videos in a medley,” a source told Us of the reunion. “Then Justin will sing his new song ‘Take Back the Night’ and get his [Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award].”

The group’s last television performance was during a Grammy Awards tribute to the Bee Gees in 2003 — three years before Twitter even existed. The social site was created in March 2006.

The MTV Video Music Awards air live on Sunday, Aug. 25, at 9 p.m. EST.
