Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis make coparenting look easy.
Wilde and Sudeikis called off their engagement in November 2020 after nine years together. The former couple share son Otis, born in April 2014, and daughter Daisy, born in October 2016.
“It was March 2020, and Jason and I had been having a rough time for a while,” Wilde recalled during a June 2026 appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast. “Like, we had a real bumpy, bumpy ride.”
She added, “We were driving home from my birthday party my friends had had, and I said, ‘Did you give me a birthday present?’ And he said, ‘What would I get you, Olivia? I don’t know you.’ He wasn’t wrong. We didn’t know each other anymore.”

Wilde has discussed how their relationship changed following their split — and how it’s gotten better in some aspects.

A Look at Their Situation
Wilde called herself a “very present” mom, even when Otis and Daisy are with Sudeikis.
“I’m a coparent. I share custody, and I am really grateful for the opportunity to have this space when I am completely with my kids, completely engaged with them and they are the focus,” she said on the June 2026 “Call Her Daddy” episode. “It’s an interesting thing, like, once you are sharing custody with someone. It shifts the way you think about parenting.”
Their Awesome Dynamic
Wilde made it clear that she and Sudeikis are “great f***ing coparents” during the same “Call Her Daddy” episode.
“These kids are consistently getting the best of us in a way that when we were together was not possible because we did not work together,” she said. “We work really well as separated coparents. When I talk to people who are in very unhappy situations and staying in it for the kids, I’m like, ‘You’re doing no one any favors.’”
Keeping in Touch
Wilde said that her custody arrangement with Sudeikis is “flexible and fluid” during a June 2026 interview with The Cut.
“We’re very, very, very different people who are certainly much better as friends and coparents,” Wilde explained before recalling one instance where she gave up time with Daisy so she could go to a soccer game with Sudeikis.
“Jason sent me a picture of her sitting with Spike Lee and Mayor Mamdani, two people I revere,” she said. “I was like, ‘F***, yeah!’”
