Though he died almost two years ago, Paul Walker’s legacy lives on. And now his only daughter, Meadow Walker, is suing Porsche, the company that made the car her father was riding in at the time of his death.
Porsche representative Calvin Kim responded to the suit, telling CNN on Tuesday, Sept. 29, “As we have said before, we are saddened whenever anyone is hurt in a Porsche vehicle, but we believe the authorities' reports in this case clearly established that this tragic crash resulted from reckless driving and excessive speed.”
The actor’s official cause of death was listed as “traumatic and thermal injuries,” from both the crash and the subsequent fire. At the time, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department noted that the vehicle Paul was riding in was traveling at an “unsafe speed for the roadway conditions.”
The 16-year-old filed the wrongful death suit on Monday, Sept. 28. The actor was 40 when he died.
"The bottom line is that the Porsche Carrera GT is a dangerous car. It doesn't belong on the street," Meadow’s attorney, Jeff Milam, said in a statement to Us Weekly. "And we shouldn't be without Paul Walker or his friend, Roger Rodas."
Rodas was driving the red Porsche Carrera GT on Nov. 30, 2013, when he collided with a light post while the Fast and Furious star was sitting in the passenger seat.
Meadow often pays tribute to her late father on social media. Just two weeks ago, she posted a throwback photo with the caption: “Reflecting on my father, I found myself reflecting on his passions. His passion for the ocean, his passion for rescuing animals, his passion for helping people and his passion for spontaneous goodwill. I wanted to start this foundation because I want to share that piece of him with the world. I want to share that part of him with others. I am tremendously proud to be launching The #PaulWalkerFoundation (@paulwalkerfdn) on his birthday. I can't think of a better way to celebrate my father. #DoGood.”
