Perez Hilton was reportedly treated for an “overdose” after appearing to self-harm on livestream, according to a new police report.
People reported on Friday, August 14, that Hilton, 48, was taken to the hospital on August 4 after deputies at the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office responded to his home following several reports of a suicide attempt.
According to the incident report, obtained by the outlet, Hilton’s sister, Barbara Lavandeira, left his house with his three children after she saw him “covered in blood” inside his bathroom.
Lavandeira told authorities that while she was in the vehicle with Hilton’s children, he exited the residence, unclothed, and started “banging on the vehicle’s driver window.”
When police arrived on scene, Hilton had gone back inside and locked the front door, per the docs.
Once authorities established a perimeter around the house, several officers and some of Hilton’s family members entered the home and were able to get him into the living room, according to the report.
At that time, a fire rescue team reportedly “began treatment on scene for multiple lacerations and an overdose” prior to taking Hilton to a local hospital where he was hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act. (The state law allows authorities to hold someone involuntarily for a period of time if they pose a threat of harm to themselves or others.)
Us has reached out to Hilton’s rep and the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office for comment.
The release of the incident report comes just one week after Hilton shocked fans when he appeared to attempt self-harm while on a TikTok livestream.
“The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls regarding an individual who was live-streaming acts of self-harm on social media,” the department told Us in a statement after the incident on August 4. “Deputies quickly located the individual’s residence, where they spoke with family members on scene, and confirmed he was alone inside.”
Us later confirmed that the celebrity blogger was transported to the hospital.
“The individual has been safely recovered and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he is receiving medical attention,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement to Us on August 5. “The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and Licensed Mental Health Professionals are also on scene providing support and resources to the individual’s family.”
Hilton’s family broke their silence over the terrifying incident that same week, saying, “Many of you have reached out with concern for Perez, and we are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming outpouring of love, support, and prayers. We can confirm that Perez is receiving medical care, and our family’s focus right now is on his well-being.”
The statement released on Hilton’s website continued, “We kindly ask that you respect Perez’s privacy, as well as the privacy of his family, during this difficult time. If and when we are able to share any updates, we will do so with everyone as soon as we can. Thank you for your compassion, understanding, and continued support.”
Following the disturbing livestream, Us confirmed that TikTok deactivated Hilton’s account and has banned him from the social media platform.
Hilton’s sister gave an update on his recovery on Thursday, August 13, telling Page Six, “[Perez] remains hospitalized and continues to receive medical treatment for his injuries. His physical and mental recovery is going to take a lot of time, but we remain hopeful.”
Lavandeira noted, “He has no access to a cell phone, social media or the internet. Everyone’s focus is on helping him recover physically and making sure he receives the mental and emotional care and support he needs.”
She also added Hilton’s mother, Teresita Lavandeira, has temporary custody of his three kids — Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8 — after Us confirmed she’d filed to take care of them on Wednesday, August 12.
“Our main priority is making sure [the children] are safe, supported, and surrounded by people who love them. They’re trying to process something no child should ever have to experience,” Barbara told the outlet. “They love their father, and the goal is for [Perez] to get well and be able to care for his children again when he is healthy and able to do so safely. In the meantime, our mother is caring for them, and our entire family is helping provide the love, stability, privacy and professional support they need.”
