Perez Hilton‘s family is sharing a new update on his progress nearly two weeks after his hospitalization.
“To everyone who has reached out, checked in, and kept Perez and our family in your thoughts, THANK YOU!” read a statement shared via the blogger’s website on Sunday, August 16. “At this time, Perez remains hospitalized and is receiving the medical care he needs. His treatment is continuing in an inpatient setting under the care of a dedicated team of medical and mental health professionals.”
The message revealed that Hilton’s team will begin publishing new content again soon.
“Whether you have followed Perez from the beginning or only recently started reading, we hope you will continue visiting, reading, and sharing the site. We deeply appreciate your support while Perez focuses on his health and recovery,” the statement read. “For now, Perez’s health remains the priority as his team keeps the site active and moving forward.”
Hilton, 48, was hospitalized after appearing to engage in self-harm behavior during a TikTok livestream on August 4. His account was later banned from the platform.
Hilton has not addressed the incident himself, but his family has continued to provide updates on his status. A previous statement revealed that Hilton’s three children — Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, 8 — were in the home just moments before the livestream.
“When it became clear that Perez was experiencing a severe mental health crisis and harming himself, they immediately fled to protect the children from witnessing any further trauma,” the August 6 message read.
Us later confirmed that Hilton’s mom, Teresita Lavandeira, filed for temporary custody of his kids. Hilton consented to the request, according to the documents.
“My main concern and objective, as well as the family’s, is to protect the children and make sure they are safe,” Hilton’s attorney Natalie Guerra-Valdes told Us in a statement regarding the decision. “We want them to have some sense of normalcy as they begin their journey of healing after the tragic events that occurred last week.”
Hilton’s sister, Barbara Lavandeira, shared more insight into what happened on the night of the livestream in an emotional interview with Page Six.
“What I can say with certainty is that I didn’t recognize my brother when I looked at him. I saw it in his eyes. They didn’t look the same,” she said. “Then, a split second later, he smiled at me. It felt like I was staring at someone else.”
