Do you think he'll prefer Lo-Fi or Ludwig? Social media–savvy Pope Francis has finally decided to join Instagram, Italian news agency ANSA reported Thursday, March 17.
The head of the Vatican's communications department, Monsignor Dario Vigano, made the revelation on Vatican Radio, and even revealed Pope Francis' anticipated handle: @Franciscus.
The leader of the Catholic Church is already on Twitter under the handle @Pontifex, and has amassed a following of 8 million–plus followers.
His latest decision was made several weeks after meeting with Instagram cofounder and CEO Kevin Systrom at the Vatican. Systrom, 30, posted a photo of himself meeting with the religious leader and shared a snippet from their conversation.
"Today I had the honor of meeting Pope Francis," he wrote. "We spoke about the power of images to unite people across different cultures and languages. It was by far one of the most memorable experiences of my life!"
