Happy Birthday, Great Grandma! On Saturday, June 13, the Royal family made a public appearance in London to honor Queen Elizabeth‘s 89th birthday. The annual Trooping of the Colour marked Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton‘s first event after giving birth to Princess Charlotte last month. It also was the first time her son, Prince George, appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
And the tiny tot didn’t disappoint. Nestled in the arms of his proud father, Prince William, the almost-2-year-old heir to the throne quickly capturing the attention of the adoring crowd.
Wearing a blue jumper, Prince George waved to the people while asking his parents questions and pointing at the aircrafts in the sky. His cutest moment was arguably when the Red Arrows did a flyover salute of Buckingham Palace, inspiring George to squirm in his dad’s arms, twisting his head around to get a better look.
Prior to his balcony debut, Prince George made quite the scene, watching his parents participate in the Trooping of the Colour from a window in Buckingham Palace. He was smiling, bouncing, and waving his hands around and at one point he even stuck out his tongue in a precious pose.
His newborn sister, Princess Charlotte, stayed at home in Kensington Palace with her nanny during the ceremony.
