“Merry Christmas from Prince Harry!” Kensington Palace tweeted along with the photo of the prince in his military garb next to the smiling vet. “Here’s his Christmas card photo showing one of his favourite moments from 2015.”

The Palace also shared the image on Instagram, along with information about the British veteran.

“Merry Christmas from Prince Harry,” the caption read. “He has chosen this photograph with Battle of Britain veteran Tom Neil for his Christmas card. Prince Harry considered it a great honour to meet Tom during the Battle of Britain flypast in September. It was one of his most memorable moments in 2015.”

Neil, 95, met Prince Harry on his 31st birthday in September during his appearance at the 75th anniversary of the battle’s victory. The sweet photo shows Neil — who is the last surviving Royal Air Force ace — in the cockpit of an airplane, grinning widely next to Harry.

Prince William’s younger brother served in the Armed Forces for 10 years. In October, he recalled his experience fighting during his visit to the White House.

“In February 2008, at the end of my first tour in Afghanistan, I traveled home on an aircraft carrying three seriously injured British soldiers and the coffin of a Danish soldier,” he told reporters at the time. “From that moment, I was committed to doing all I could to ensure that those men and women, who had sacrificed so much for their countries, would receive the recognition and support they deserved.”

While at the White House, he met with President Barack Obama to discuss his involvement with the 2016 Invictus Games — a sporting event for injured active-duty and veteran soldiers — and his campaign to assist wounded veterans.
