A royal bond. It’s safe to say Princess Charlotte and Prince George have close relationships with their parents, Duchess Kate Middleton and Prince William.

“George is very close with his father,” a source told Us Weekly. “William says they have surprisingly deep conversations these days and his view of the world is absolutely fascinating to him. Not so long ago William said something like, ‘I never thought I’d see the day when George is talking to me about the value of sharing or the importance of happiness. He’s a bright boy!’”

Much like William and George, Kate’s bond with Charlotte is equally as strong. “Mummy definitely has a shadow,” a Middleton family source told Us. “Wherever Kate goes, so does Charlotte. It’s adorable. As she’s home a lot more than George, Charlotte spends time in the kitchen ‘helping’ with things. Whenever the housekeeper or Kate is preparing food, Charlotte needs her own little toy set by her side to imitate.”

The source added that Charlotte loves wooden toys from a store called Jojo Maman Bebe, and is into Disney princesses. “I don’t think it’s quite dawned on her yet that she’s a princess herself,” the family friend said.

While Charlotte, 2, is a girly girl, she also enjoys playing with her 4-year-old brother.

“He’s very protective of her but they still like a bit of rough and tumble,” a source close to the couple told Us. “She’s not afraid of a grazed knee and it’s most certainly not going to stop her from running around corridors like a girl possessed.”

“Charlotte has a very active imagination and a curious nature,” the source continued. “She’s always got her eye on something and moves at the speed of light!”

As previously reported, the royal heirs will spend Christmas with their parents; their uncle Prince Harry and his bride-to-be, Meghan Markle; and their grandma Queen Elizabeth II.

“I think William and Kate love Christmas just as much as George and Charlotte,” a friend revealed in the new issue of Us Weekly. “For them, it’s about coming together and enjoying the holiday.”
